Havana Club Selección de Maestros

Also known as “Havana Club Barrel Proof”. Aged molasses-based brown rum, bottled after being blended and re-aged at 45º ABV. Note: this rum is only “barrel proof” in a relative sense. Gold Cuban rum is generic for the light bodied, aged brown rums from Cuba designed for mixing; these rums are comparable to the filtered rums, but retain their color from their barrel aging, modulated with the use of caramel color. The defunct Bacardi Carta de Oro rum was more or less the epitome of this style of rum.
