peach aperitif bitters

Peach aperitif bitters are a near-defunct potable bittersweet liqueurs—some wine based—with peach fruit flavor, possibly of early 20th Century British origin. (Not to be confused with aromatic peach bitters, which are non-potable bitters flavored with peach pits.) Research by Adam Elmegirab suggests the first brand may have been Law’s Peach Bitters; early 20th Century advertising claims it was made “from the pure juice of the Craford Peaches.” Another brand was Finsbury. Advertising references to these bitters begin at least as early as 1906. Cocktail references to these peach bitters begin with the McElhone and Craddock cocktail books published in the 1920s and 1930s in England.
