Americano is generic for an Italian style of fortified aperitif wine similar to vermouth or quinquina, but featuring both quinine and gentian botanicals, and focused on the latter. Americanos are generally built on a white wine base. These americanos are colored red and may be designed to offer a fruitier, richer profile.
