oatmeal stout

4% ABV

Oatmeal stout is generic for a stout with oatmeal as an ingredient; common in medieval times, oatmeal stout's popularity rose and fell over the centuries until all but disappearing in the 20th Century. This style was revived by Samuel Smith brewers in 1979 and has since enjoyed renewed popularity. Oatmeal stouts do not taste like oatmeal, but the oats lend them a heavier, smoother body than most other styles.
