Also known as “seven flavor chili pepper”,“Japanese seven spice mixture”,“seven color chili powder”,“nana-iro tōgarashi”,“shichimi”. Shichimi is a common Japanese dry spice blend usually purchased in commercially-packaged form in the West. The blend, often packaged in a small tubular bottle with a shaker top, contains some mixture ground chili peppers, citrus peel, sesame seeds, ginger, seaweed, poppy seeds and/or other spices. Typically used to season soup or noodles.
