Also known as “medium sherry”. Cocktail sherry is generic for general-purpose sweeter or semi-sweet sherry blends for cocktail use. These sherries exhibit sherry characteristics but are not otherwise necessarily well distinguished. Note that some sherry blends may be labeled “dry sherry”, but all this implies is that they are probably less sweet than a cream sherry—not to be confused with the bone-dry sherries (fino, manzanilla, amontillado, oloroso, etc.)
