Also known as “barbados rum”. Barbados rum is generic for the flavorful medium-bodied brown rums produced in Barbados. Cockspur and Mount Gay are notable brands. “Barbados rum” is frequently called for in older drink and punch recipes, probably less because Barbados rum has a distinct character than because it has LESS distinct character compared to the rums of the other two major English-style rum sources: Jamaica and Guyana.
