151-proof rum
Also known as “amber 151-proof rum”. 151-proof rum is ambiguous for an over-proof rum used for flaming or flavoring drinks. Without context, the term is inherently ambiguous, because rums of vastly different styles can be bottled at 151 proof. Most commonly-known brands are utterly awful, and really unsuitable for any purpose other than lighting things on fire. The only truly distinguished 151-proof rums are the overproof black Demerara rums from Guyana. Sometimes, a lower proof rum will work just as well—use your discretion.
