Warning: this is a problematic ingredient for use in historic drinks as the modern, mass-produced product probably has little—or even nothing—to do with the original product, which was a 19th Century spiced bourbon from New Orleans. As of this writing (early 2018), the situation is muddy, and a formula revision may be in the works. Fruit-flavored liqueurs is an abstract category for sweetened and flavored spirits of various dilutions with fruit flavoring.
