Pierre Ferrand 1840 Original Formula

45% ABVPierre FerrandCognac

Also known as “Pierre Ferrand 1840”. “Three star” Cognac blend introduced in 2011 at a somewhat higher proof to appeal to mixologists. Approximately a VS cognac, although it isn’t clear whether this product would meet the requirements, and Ferrand tends to eschew those categories, anyway. Cognac is generic for a specific regional aged dry grape brandy from the Cognac region of France with mandated grape, distillation, and aging requirements that define it from other brandies. Very popular (and excellent) in cocktails, especially older ones, and in all levels of quality and age. Today, most cognac is 40% ABV, but that wasn’t always the case.
