Also known as “claret”. Claret (KLAIR-et) is the generic British term for French red Bordeaux wine. In mixology, this means any medium-bodied dry red wine, to taste—it needn’t be Bordeaux at all. Used occasionally in cocktails, most often older ones, and most notably the New York Sour.
