Stock Rosolio

30% ABVStockItaly

Rosolio is a generic category of typically-low-proof Italian herbal- and floral-infused liqueur with compound flavors. The name seems to derive from the latin name for a common sundew, “ros solis”, that was once (centuries ago) a common flavoring. Commercial bottlings in recent decades have often featured citrus, elaborated with fennel or rose-petal flavoring or spices. Each rosolio is a unique conception, and the tradition embraces whatever desirable local flavorings are handy. For example, Rosolio reportedly remains a popular local tradition in Sicily, where the local citrus and fennel often provides the main flavoring. Coloration (e.g., saffron or cocchineal) is not uncommon. Brand example: Stock Rosolio.
